A first date with room to talk.

Coffee, a little art, and an optional walk. An easy University Circle plan with a natural stopping point.

WhereUniversity Circle
Time together90 minutes–2 hours
Planning budget$20–$40 for two
Suggested daySaturday or Sunday afternoon

Meet at the Cleveland Museum of Art for a short afternoon rather than committing to dinner and an entire evening. There is something to look at when conversation needs a pause, and extending the date is a choice you can make together.

The itinerary

  1. 2:00 p.m.

Meet, then get coffee at Provenance Café.

Start with a drink and a conversation before heading into the galleries. Check the café’s current hours; weekend service is published through 4 p.m.

    Check Cleveland Museum of Art
  2. 2:25 p.m.

Choose two galleries, not the whole museum.

Each pick something you would like to see. Leave room to disagree about the art; the point is a shared experience, not a guided lecture.

    Check Cleveland Museum of Art
  3. 3:10 p.m.

Offer a short walk by Wade Lagoon.

If you both want more time and the weather is comfortable, head outside. Stay indoors for another gallery if it is wet, windy or slippery.

    Check Cleveland Museum of Art
  4. 3:30 p.m.

End clearly—or agree on another stop.

A good short date does not need to become an all-day commitment. If you enjoyed it, say so and suggest meeting again.

Budget notes

Our planning allowance covers two drinks and a light snack, with room for variation. Add parking and any ticketed exhibition separately; the permanent galleries are free.

The backup plan

Rain changes only the last stop: stay in the galleries or atrium. If the museum is closed for a holiday, pick another day rather than relying on this schedule.
